Daniel Taylor Wright
Daniel Taylor Wright was born Dec. 31, 1969, in Sitka, the fifth child of Russell Daniel Wright and Gwendolyn Barbara (Olson) Wright.
He lived in Sitka until 1989, when he joined the U.S. Army. He served his country until 1994, and was stationed in Berlin, Germany.
After the military, Daniel moved to Hillsboro, Oregon, and lived at Smallwood until his passing May 25, 2021, at the age of 51.
Daniel attended Sitka schools from elementary grades on, and was at Lake Oswego High in Oregon for a short time before graduating from Sitka High in 1988. In school he participated and lettered in basketball, baseball, and track and field.
He worked as an aerial photographer in the Army, and after he left the military Dan worked as a photographer for JCPenney, traveling all over the Pacific Northwest.
Daniel had an amazing group of friends he’d enjoy going to concerts with, listening to good music and collecting CDs of his favorite bands. He also enjoyed playing video games, as well as getting together with his friends, watching movies and sporting events. He loved cooking up meals with his friends and working out at the gym.
He was a good man, brother, cousin, and uncle. “We will all miss him dearly,” the family said.
Services were to be held June 19 at the home of his niece Abigail Honl in Warren, Oregon.
Daniel is survived by his brother Jeffrey Wright, and sisters Rebekah Wright Winger and Melinda Wright.
He also is survived by uncles Everett Wright and Irving Wright; aunties Jan Williams, Loretta Wright and Susan Kembel; and his nieces and nephews Kelly Wright, Whitney Wright, Curtis Wright, Abigail Honl, Brittany Kembel, Phillip Barile, Gabriella Barile and Viola Barile.
He also leaves behind his grandnephews and grandnieces Henry Honl, Eleanor Honl, Elijah Ray, Shane Roberts, Taylor Roberts, Joseph Thomas Roberts II; and many more cousins.

At the celebration of life his honorary pallbearers were Jeffrey Wright, Phillip Barile, Michael Williams, Doug Williams, Everett Wright, Curtis Wright, William Henshaw, Brian Beggs and Steve Schiewe. His ashes will be laid to rest in Alaska at a future date.
