Gail Bruce Stromme
Gail Bruce Stromme, 73, a longtime Sitka resident, passed away in his home March 28 from cancer.
He was born January 22, 1949, in Bellingham, Washington, to Donald and Marianne (Martin) Stromme.
He attended Sitka High School, and continued his education at Sheldon Jackson College, graduating in 1969 with an associate of arts degree.
Gail began his career as a fish processor in Pelican, moved to Whitney Fidalgo Seafoods in Anchorage, and then returned to Sitka as plant manager when the Halibut Producers Co-op (now Seafood Producers Co-op) built their processing plant. He retired from Sitka Sound Seafoods-North Pacific Seafoods in 2013.
He lived for his hunting and fishing trips, and had a lifelong passion for motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl Stromme; daughter, Inga Stromme and her husband Lee Raimond; son, Kerry Stromme; grandson, Jensen Raimond; his sister, Diane Bidgood; and lifelong friends Alan Andersen, Richard Dangel and Jim Dangel.
A private family ceremony will be held.
