New Principal For Sitka High Is Announced

By Sentinel Staff
Karen Macklin has been tapped as the next Sitka High School principal.
Macklin, who has been assistant principal at Sitka High since January, will replace PJ Ford Slack, who is resigning at the end of this school year.
Assistant Superintendent Mary Wegner issued a press release today announcing the selection of Macklin as the new principal. Macklin was special education director for the Sitka School District from 2005-2010.
Wegner said Macklin was selected to replace Ford Slack with input from other principals, District Superintendent Steve Bradshaw and Sitka High School staff members.
Macklin was named assistant principal in January to replace John Cotton, who resigned for family reasons.
