Show March 26
The Greater Sitka Arts Council will produce the Alaska Airlines Wearable Art Runway Show March 26 at the Performing Arts Center.
The theme is ‘‘Alaska and 8 Stars,’’ and artists may use it or not in their creations. A matinee and an evening show are planned. A mandatory dress rehearsal is Friday, March 25. Registration forms are available at www.thinkartthinksitka.com and the deadline for registering is Feb. 29.

Piano, Flute
Recital Jan. 8
Sitka Fine Arts Camp will host a piano and flute recital by musicians Mario Puerini, Julia Kruger and Victor Bunin 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at the Performing Arts Center.
This concert will feature music by Brahms, Prokofiev, Copland and Rachmaninoff. Tickets are $20/$10 and available at Old Harbor Books or by phone at 747-3085.
Hames Center
Hours Offered
The Hames Center will be open for holidays hours 6 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24; 1-5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 25; 6 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31; and 1-5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1.

RAFFLE WINNER – Coach Noel Hutton, seventh from right, and members of the Sitka Shore Shots presents the winner of the group’s most recent raffle, Rob Dalquist, third from right, with the first prize of $1,000. The raffle was held to help raise funds for the team to travel to the state meet in Anchorage in June. Several team members were present during the drawing. Second-place winner of a barbecue was Jessica Twydell, and Kathie Johnson won the third-place prize, an AC/Lakeside $250 gift certificate. RV Dump Site
Closure Noted
The RV dump site at the Wastewater Treatment Plant on Japonski Island will be closed for repairs Dec. 28-Jan. 10.
During the closure a temporary dump site can be reached through the SEARHC campus – use Tongass Drive, turn left on Seward Avenue, then right into the parking lot behind Mt. Edgecumbe High School. The dump site is between the orange jersey barriers and has a green lid.
The City and Borough of Sitka apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. For any questions, call the public works department at 747-1804.
Bird Count
Planning Set
The planning meeting for the 116th Christmas Bird Count will be held 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, at the Alaska Raptor Center. A slide show will be presented to review the birds.
The annual bird count will be on Sunday, Jan. 3. The post-birding party is set 4 p.m. on Jan. 1 above Pet’s Choice Vterinary Hospital. Snacks will be sponsored by Pet’s Choice.
