Assistance Given

Open enrollment through the Affordable Care Act Health Insurance Marketplace began Nov. 1, 2015, and continues through Jan. 31.

To help community members navigate the process, SEARHC Outreach and Enrollment Manager Andrea Thomas will offer a presentation noon-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec., 30,  at Kettleson Memorial Library.

The presentation will focus on affordable health care coverage available through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Attendees can find out about eligibility, who qualifies for lower-cost coverage, pitfalls to avoid, and how to enroll. Thomas will also discuss Medicaid eligibility and how to apply.

“Please come to the presentation if you have questions about applying for insurance on the Health Insurance Marketplace and Medicaid,” Thomas, said. “We are trained to help you navigate the process of getting covered and how to avoid common Marketplace problems.”

Sitkans Invited 

To Meet Designer

The Sitka History Museum will host three ‘‘meet the exhibit designer’’ sessions noon Dec. 29 and 30, and 3 p.m. Dec. 30.

The museum is beginning work on the design for its new permanent exhibit, scheduled to open spring 2017. The public is invited to participate in the creation of the exhibit by sharing their content and design ideas.

Kettleson Library

Announces Hours

Kettleson Memorial Library has posted reduced hours for the holidays and move preparation beginning today.

Hour changes will be as follow: closed Dec. 25; 1-6 p.m. Dec. 26-27; 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 28-31.

Beginning Jan. 1, the library will be closed to the public until completion of the move to its newly expanded building. The move is expected to take place during January, and Sitkans are being invited to assist. Letters to Santa

Letters posted here will be forwarded to Santa Claus at the North Pole. Letters may be dropped off at the Sentinel office or at Sitka True Value to be printed in the newspaper and placed here.
