Robert LaMar, 69, Dies; Owned Bowling Center

William Robert LaMar

William Robert LaMar passed away peacefully at his home in Dayton, Nevada, with his family by his side on September 10, 2020.

Robert was born on April 29, 1953, in French Camp, California.  He graduated from Colusa High School in 1971. In 1975 he enlisted in the United States Army and served honorably for four years at Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska.

In 1983 Robert and his family moved to Sitka and eventually bought and ran Sitka Bowling Center and Lane 7 Snack Bar. Robert loved to cook in the Snack Bar and loved working on the machines at the bowling alley.

In 1990 Robert left Sitka and moved back to California, where he went back to school and became a certified respiratory therapist. He did his internship in California hospitals, and as soon as he was certified he went back to the place he loved: Alaska. He moved to Wasilla for the duration of his 24-year career in the medical field. Robert retired in 2018, and to be closer to his children moved to Dayton, Nevada, where he lived for the remainder of his life.

Robert loved being in the position to help others not only in the medical field but whenever someone needed a hand. He loved to bowl, hunt and travel, especially to Hawaii. He was an avid fisherman, and spent a lot of his time on the water or near a river chasing those kings. He also enjoyed being around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert was a member of the Moose Lodge in Sitka.

Robert was preceded in death by his father William “Billy” LaMar, and his mother Margret “Peggy” Wilson.

Robert is survived by his three children, sons William “Bill” LaMar (Deanne) of Quincy, California, and Damien LaMar of Kent, Washington, and his daughter Fairicy Del Cid (Fernando) of Buzzard Bay, Massachusetts.

Robert also is survived by 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and sisters Barbara Patton and Karen Madrid (Ray), and brother Erik Sarale, all of Stockton, California.

Services will be held at his home in Dayton on October 10. Cards or flowers may be sent to his address at 919 Nicole St., Dayton NV 89403.
