Mike A. Davis of Sitka Passes Away on Dec. 31

Mike A. Davis, a resident of Sitka, died Dec. 31, 2022. He was 70.

Mike was born Jan. 19, 1952, in Grants Pass, Oregon, the son of Lillian O’Daniel and Ronald Eugene Davis. The family moved to Anchorage in 1964, and then in 1966 to Juneau, where Mike graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School, in 1971.

He attended a computer programing school in Lake Oswego, Oregon, and after graduating returned to Juneau to work for the State of Alaska.

Later he moved to Petersburg, where he opened his own business, Mike’s Auto, a body and fender shop.

About 10 years ago he retired and came to Sitka. He enjoyed sport fishing, and was a member of the Sitka Moose Lodge 1662.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian O’Daniel and Ronald Eugene Davis.

He is survived by his daughters, Christy Flake and Becky Wiemer of Juneau and Stephanie Shurtleff of Idaho; sons Matt Davis of Petersburg, and Clint Davis of Juneau; and his brother, Ron Davis, of Sitka.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held this summer.
