Wanda E. Savage


    A graveside memorial for former Sitka resident Wanda Eva Savage will be held 2 p.m. Sept. 17 at Sitka National Cemetery. She will be buried next to her husband, William “Bill” Savage.
    Wanda died at Harmony House in Bend, Ore., on Aug. 10, 2012.  She was 83.
    She was born May 29, 1929, in Alberta, Canada. She moved to the United States, and married William Joseph Savage in 1967. Together they made their home in Sitka, and raised two children before her husband was killed in an airplane accident in 1971.
    She spent her later years enjoying hobbies and crafts at home, until moving to Oregon in 2010.
    Survivors include her longtime friends, Iola and Bill Jolley of Bend, Ore.; two stepdaughters, Joan Skannes (John) of Sitka and Kathleen Seaman of California; a stepson, Todd Savage of Washington; grandchildren Jerad Seaman of Washington, Camille Skannes of Colorado, Kevin Skannes of Sitka, Kayla Rayson (Kevin) of California; Alicia Sanders (Ryan) of Florida; and one great-grandchild, Acacia Rayson of California.
    She also is survived by her two brothers, Robert Grant of Canada and Royden Shirts of Utah.
