Police Blotter

Police received the following calls as of 8 a.m. today:

July 8

At 3:13 a.m. criminal mischief was reported at Eliason Harbor.

At 4:20  a.m. and 5:10 a.m.  callers reported a bear at 1820 Edgecumbe Drive.

An animal problem was reported on Burkhart Street at 10:30 a.m.

A caller reported suspicious activity on the Cross Trail at 1 p.m.

A report of sexual abuse of a minor is under investigation.

Suspicious activity was reported on Eagle Way at 10:11 p.m., at the post office at 10:19 p.m. and 11:43 p.m. at Cascade Convenience Center on SMC.

Noise complaints were filed, at 11:05 p.m. in the 4600 block of HPR and at 11:51 p.m. at a downtown hotel.

July 9

At 2:25 a.m. a case of drunkenness at ANB Harbor parking lot was logged.

At 5:54 a.m. a bear was seen near the top of Shotgun Alley.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Wednesday and one at 2:18 a.m. today.

 

Sitka Police

Daniel G. Smith, 38, was charged Wednesday with misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree.

Lewis John Handerson, 46, was arrested on a warrant Wednesday  for violating conditions of release.

Tyler Eldon Stonebreaker, 26, was charged Wednesday night with burglary in the first degree, assault in the second degree, domestic violence; and five counts of assault in the fourth degree, domestic violence.

 

In Court

Walter Lee Boyd, 36, on a January 2019 charge of theft in the second degree was sentenced July 6 to 48 months with 30 months suspended. He is to be on probation for three years, and is to receive substance abuse treatment. On a previous charge of theft, six months of suspended jail time was imposed, to be consecutive to the July 6 sentence. A January 2019 charge of misconduct involving weapons in the third degree was dismissed.
