Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
July 16
A man said his estranged wife was threatening to harm herself. Police left a message for her, and she called back saying she was fine.
A caller asked to talk about a theft.
A marriage license was found in the police department parking lot. The owner said she would pick it up.
A resident said he lost his ID.
At 1:19 p.m. a bartender said a man was becoming unruly and trying to start fights, and refusing to leave. A fight started while the bartender was talking to police. A criminal trespass was signed and served at the scene.
An ambulance was called for a woman who fell at Katlian and Lincoln streets. She declined a ride.
A resident asked for a welfare check on a friend, who turned out to be out of town for medical reasons.
At 3:51 p.m. possible gunshots were reported downtown.
At 3:56 p.m. a vehicle backing out hit a shopping cart in a grocery store parking lot. Police issued a self-report accident form to the driver.
A bike was abandoned in the woods behind the animal shelter.
At 5 p.m. a caller asked for a welfare check on a woman who might want to harm herself and had missed appointments, unusual for her. The woman told police she was fine and would call the resident.
At 5:24 p.m. a man said a possibly intoxicated driver nearly sideswiped him on Lincoln Street. Police didn’t locate the vehicle in question.
At 5:31 p.m. a woman expressed concern about a man who appeared to be unconscious at the base of a tree in totem park. He was gone from the area, but police said they would continue to look.
At 6:50 p.m. a man said a black and white pig was in his yard, in the 2800 block of SMC.
A Biorka Street resident said he was awakened the previous night by a person walking by and playing rap music at high volume. He told police he heard the same song about 7:25 p.m. Tuesday and thought it might be the same person. He told police that he’d told the person not to play that music.
Police were asked to help on a number of parking complaints.
At 8:34 p.m. a Price Street resident said her intoxicated brother threatened to punch her in the face. The man agreed to leave when police arrived, and was given a ride to his parents’ home.
A caller said a vandal broke into the Moller ball field cage and cut the tarp and netting.
July 17
At 1:26 a.m. a store employee reported a drunk man was refusing to move from in front of the store and wouldn’t let anyone enter. Police gave him a ride home.
At 2:22 a.m. a caller said a woman fell at home. Police helped her back into her chair.
Sitka Police
Reno Red Leaf, 30, was arrested Tuesday by troopers on two warrants from Unalaska for failing to appear on a charge of violating release conditions.
Cedar Mayo, 29, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of disorderly conduct and criminal trespass in the second degree.
Troy Mayer, 53, was arrested Tuesday on two charges of violating conditions of release, and unlawful contact. He was also arrested on three Sitka warrants related to two cases.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 2:19, 3:59, 5:25 and 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.
