Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
November 27
A single-vehicle accident with injuries was reported at 8:45 a.m. at Lake and Verstovia streets.
At 1:19 p.m. an OCS employee asked an officer to stand by while she contacts a man. The man agreed to leave the residence.
At 3:50 p.m. police responded to a report of a woman hitting a man, walking outside, and returning to hit him again. The couple left before officers arrived.
Police cited seven vehicles parked on private property on Burkhart Street.
At 9:10 p.m. a bear was reported walking up a Knutson Street driveway.
At 10:30 p.m. a woman reported she couldn’t find her Australian shepherd mix in the 2800 block of SMC. Police advised her about the bear report earlier, for her own safety.
A welfare check was performed on a high school student, who turned out to have permission to stay longer at an adult’s home.
November 28
Officers told a man calling a woman and sending harassing texts to desist.
At 10:33 a.m. a caller who found a pit bull shivering and running at large said she would hold onto it until she could meet an officer at the shelter.
A caller said a German shepherd and black and white dog followed her to the Cross Trail at DeGroff Street, and down the trail to Indian River.
At 6:34 p.m. police left a message for the owner of a home on Biorka Street where water was seen flowing. The water department also was advised.
At 7:30 p.m. a caller asked for a welfare check on his dad, who turned out to be fine.
November 29
At 2 a.m. a caller said a man and woman were arguing on Indian River Road. There was nothing going on when officers arrived.
Sitka Police
Walter L. Boyd, 36, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of violating conditions of release for allegedly failing to appear in court.
Shawn Chandler, 27, was cited Wednesday for driving with a revoked license.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 11:33 a.m., 1:26 p.m., 6:58 p.m. and 8:38 p.m. Wednesday; 9:08 a.m. and 11:34 a.m. Thursday, and 8:45 a.m. today.
At 6:24 p.m. Thursday a fire truck crew helped get women out of an elevator that was stuck at 803 HPR.
