LUTHERAN QUILTERS – Members of the Quilts for Comfort Group stand between pews draped with some of the 205 quilts they made, in the Sitka Lutheran Church Tuesday. The group made the quilts for five local non-profits and one in Anchorage. Sitka Police Department received the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
July 19
At 12:13 a.m. cars were reported parked after hours at Whale Park. Officers advised persons there they needed to leave.
At 3:51 a.m. a bear was reported in the 1700 block of Edgecumbe Drive.
At 10:22 a.m. a stray dog was reported near Spenard Builders Supply. The matter was referred to the animal control officer.
At 11:53 a.m. a 7-year-old boy was taken to the station after he was reported lost. After his mother called police his dad picked him up and took him home.
At 3:21 p.m. a woman in the 3300 block of HPR reported her dog missing. Her neighbor found it and returned it to her.
At 4 p.m. an incident of drunkenness was reported at Eliason Harbor.
At 5:30 p.m. a dog was reported barking on Austin Street. Its owner took it inside.
A 6:08 p.m. a driver reported he may have struck a yellow Lab in the 900 block of HPR, but it ran off. Officers were unable to locate it.
At 10:22 p.m. a Flume Circle caller reported someone appeared to be in the woods nearby. Officers found no one in the area.
At 10:34 p.m. a couple was reported arguing loudly in a downtown apartment. Officers spoke to the two and determined it had been a verbal argument.
July 20
At 3:41 a.m. a bear was reported in the 2000 block of Edgecumbe Drive.
At 6:40 a.m. citizen contact was made on Anna Drive.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 11:29 a.m., 12:23 p.m. and 4:09 p.m. Monday.
