Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
January 13
At 1:55 a.m. a caller reported receiving a strange text. Officers investigated and found nothing criminal.
At 9:52 a.m. a dog was reported running at large on Brady Street. The animal control officer returned it to its owner.
At 10:17 a.m. a woman arrived at the police station to ask for help disposing of life rounds of ammunition.
A caller asked for help with a co-worker who might be suicidal.
At 1:13 p.m. a woman reported her yellow Lab was missing on Eliason Loop.
A license plate that had been found was turned in at the police station. It was returned to its owner.
At 1:35 p.m. a car was reported stuck on Jeff Davis. The owner received help in moving it.
At 4:08 p.m. a landlord-tenant dispute was reported. Police advised those involved of their options.
A thumb drive found in the police parking lot was to be picked up by the owner.
A store on Harbor Drive reported its surveillance camera had shown three females shoplifting. The store declined to press charges but did not want the three to come back.
A caller said her power was out and wondered whether others in the area had an outage. It was determined her electricity had been cut off by the city for nonpayment.
At 8;08 p.m. a caller reported two vehicles had collided in the 2300 block of HPR, and some yelling had ensued. Police advised those involved of their options, since the accident had happened on private property.
At 10 p.m. people were reported sleeping in the Tlingit canoe at Centennial Hall. Officers told them they had to leave.
January 14
At 6:25 a.m. a caller said a man was in her driveway and she didn’t want him there. Officers investigated and found nothing amiss. They advised her of her options.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received seven ambulance calls Thursday.
Sitka Police
Donald Vanasdoll, 57, was charged Thursday with assault in the fourth degree, domestic violence.
