Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
May 5
At 3:56 a.m. a caller reported a vehicle had been stolen. However, a short time later the caller said a family member had taken it to go see a friend.
At 10:28 a.m. birds were reported getting into trash from an overflowing garbage can on Observatory Street. Officers were unable to contact the owner of the garbage can.
A woman reported being harassed by a man. Police opened a case file.
At 12:12 p.m. criminal mischief involving graffiti was found at the skate park. Police opened an investigation, aided by surveillance video.
At 12:31 p.m. two dogs were reported running at large on Indian River Road. The animal control officer caught them and took them to the animal shelter.
A wallet was found at Crescent Harbor. Officers located the owner.
Oil was found on the ground in the 2300 block of HPR. Police and the fire department responded, and determined no more oil had spilled.
A dead cat was found in the 1400 block of SMC. Police disposed of the carcass.
At 2:17 p.m. a minor two-vehicle traffic accident was reported on DeArmond Street. The drivers were given self-report forms.
At 4:28 p.m. adults were reported smoking at the skate park, where children were present. Officers advised the adults to smoke elsewhere.
At 6 p.m. a caller reported a dog was missing in the Wortman Loop-Charteris Street area, but a short time later reported the dog was back home.
At 7:10 p.m. a man in an altered mental state was reported on the ground at Eliason Harbor. The harbor department took him to a facility.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received four ambulance calls Thursday.
Sitka Police
Amivael A. Andino, 28, was arrested late Thursday on charges of drunkenness on licensed premises and two counts of disorderly conduct.
