The following calls were recorded as of 8 a.m. today.

January 13

At 10:44 a.m. a man was trespassed from a housing authority’s buildings.

At 6:11 p.m. a caller near Swan Lake reported seeing a flare. No evidence was found of anyone in distress.

An animal call came in at 6:22 p.m. from Monastery and DeGroff streets.

A welfare check was requested at 10:28 p.m. in the 200 block of Baranof Street.

January 14

At  1:49 p.m. a citizen assist report was logged at the skate park.

At 6:29 p.m. a found property call came in from Mt. Edgecumbe High School.

January 15

At 4:43 a.m. a caller said two men had broken windows of a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Seward Street. Police opened a file on the case.

At 1:33 p.m. a man who had been trespassed from a downtown business was reported to have returned. He told officers he didn’t know he’d been trespassed, and agreed to leave.

At 7:50 p.m. a women reported she had returned to Sitka after eight days and found her vehicle was missing from the seven-day parking area at the airport. She was to contact DOT.

At 10:35 p.m. a noise complaint came in from Vitskari Street.

January 16

At 8 a.m.  the woman who had reported her vehicle missing from the airport called back. Officers located it at 2 p.m. and determined it had been misplaced, not stolen.

An animal call came in at 2:42 p.m. from the 700 block of Lincoln Street.

At 5:14 p.m. a caller said a taxi driver had nearly hit a pedestrian near Baranof Elementary School.

January 17

At 12:48 a.m. a caller reported seeing a suspicious vehicle at the Herring Cove Road, which then sped off toward town. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.


Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Friday, two on Saturday, none on Sunday and two on Monday.


Sitka Police

Andre Haas, 27, was charged Sunday with assault in the third degree, assault in the fourth degree, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, and misconduct involving a gun in the fifth degree. Bail was set at $750.

Rudy Jones, 36, was charged early this morning with driving under the influence.

Tyla Gleason, 19, was charged early this morning with driving under the influence.


Coast Guard

A helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Sitka medevacked a 35-year-old Hoonah man Saturday with a medical emergency, to Juneau.

The call came in to the Air Station at 11:33 a.m., the helicopter was diverted from a training flight here to pick up the patient in Hoonah and take him to Juneau. After dropping off the patient at 1:34 p.m., the helicopter returned to Sitka by 3:13 p.m.
