Bradshaw Hurt in Fall

By Sentinel Staff

Sitka School Superintendent Steve Bradshaw was injured in a fall Thursday while attending a conference in Juneau, and was medevacked to Seattle, assistant superintendent Deidre Johnson said.

Bradshaw “is currently in stable condition,” Johnson told the Sentinel by email Monday. “Due to the extent of his injuries, he will have some recovery time, but is planning on returning to finish his interim superintendent role for the remainder of the year.”

Johnson is now acting superintendent, and will fill Bradshaw’s role while he is recovering.

The school district notified teachers and staff about Bradshaw’s accident by email.

Bradshaw, hired as interim superintendent following the resignation of Frank Hauser, came out of retirement on July 1 to take the position while the School Board searches for a permanent superintendent.
