Dear Editor: This past Tuesday, Nancy and I were taking a backwoods walk near our Middle Island cabin when Nancy, still recovering from major surgery, became immobilized some distance from the house. Unable to move her, I called 911.
Within 30 minutes, a team arrived aboard the Fire hall’s emergency response vessel, while a Coast Guard helicopter dropped two paramedics nearby. Working together, the teams safely airlifted Nancy to Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center.
We are deeply appreciative of the professionalism, skill, and caring service provided by both teams.
With our gratitude,
Mark Gorman and Nancy Knapp
