Animal Shelter Benefit

Posted

Dear Editor: Friends of Sitka Animal Shelter would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the community for making our recent fundraiser at the Sitka Elks Lodge such a success. Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of so many people, we raised over $10,000 to support spay/neuter services and other essential veterinary care for shelter pets and local families in need.

A very special thank you goes to the Sitka Elks Lodge for hosting this incredible and fun event and for cooking a delicious meal. Your hospitality, hard work, and generosity made the evening so memorable. Thank you as well to AC Lakeside, Northern Sales, U.S. Foods, and Mean Queen for donating ingredients that gave the cooks plenty to work with!

We are also deeply grateful to the many local businesses and individuals who donated items for the auction. The list is long, and we hope we don’t leave anyone out: New Start Pets, The Cellar, Coldwater Bar and Grill, Pizza Express, The Donut Shack, The Fresh Fish, Pat Barker, Rising Tide Bagels, Sitka Work & Rugged Gear, Fortress of the Bear, Outer Coast Charters, Hames Corporation, Ted Hasty, Lisa Langenfeld, The Studio by Emily, Pioneer Bar, Colleen Torrence, Shades Salon, The Donut Lady, Two Local Sisters, and Island Artists Co-op Gallery artists Elizabeth Faulkner, Pat Kehoe, Bobbi Jordan, Barb Bingham, Amy Sweeney, David J. Gross, and Petra Lechner.

And of course, thank you to the talented bakers who contributed more than 40 amazing treats for the dessert auction! Your creativity and delicious contributions brought so much fun (and donations!) to the evening.

A special thank you to the amazingly talented auctioneer, Keith Perkins, for being the voice of the event and encouraging everyone to bid high and often!

Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who attended, bid, volunteered, and supported the event. Your kindness and dedication will allow us to continue providing essential health care to animals in need at the shelter and throughout our community. Thank you for believing in our organization and for showing so much love to the furry friends of Sitka!
