Dear Editor: This letter is long, long overdue. I have written some variation of this letter in my head dozens of times, and it is also true that I could have written a letter to you every year for the past 27 years.
It has been a great delight to have such a high-quality and informative paper to read, with broad-ranging news, that is produced right here in Sitka, and reflects our community so well. The Sentinel is a wonderful family-owned paper, which offers so much for us –what a rare and precious thing! I am very grateful for all that you provide. When I am traveling or out of state, I miss the Sentinel dearly.
Sandy, Thad, James, Shannon, Cyndi, Garland, Anna, Sarah, Hayley, KathyHope, Mike, Cathy and all the rest of the wonderful staff there, past and present, thank you so much!
For all these years, you have all helped to keep me up-to-date, interested, entertained, enlightened, and forever smiling with all the great photos. I want to heartily commend you for your fine, fine service to our community. I never take your paper and all that it offers, for granted, not at all. I don’t know what is ahead, but I feel we have been, and are, so very fortunate to have the Daily Sitka Sentinel to look forward to every single weekday evening. You’re the BEST!
Happy Solstice, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year ahead!
With sincere appreciation,
Auriella Hughes, Sitka
