April 10, 2023, Police Blotter

The following calls were recorded as of 8 a.m. today.

April 7

At 12:27 a.m. a caller reported a loud argument in the 2700 block of HPR. Police found no assistance was required.

A patient seeking a protective order was advised of options.

At 1:20 p.m. a man was reported dumping tree trash at Back Beach. Police found the material was being left for someone who was picking it up.

At 10:20 p.m. a bear was reported struck by a vehicle in the 4000 block of HPR. Wildlife troopers were contacted and they dispatched the bear.

At 10:30 p.m. police were asked to trespass a woman from a downtown bar.

April 8

At 8:46 a.m. a caller said a man was drinking and smoking marijuana in the 1900 block of HPR. The man was gone when officers arrived.

At 12:09 p.m. a man was reported yelling near a downtown bank. Officers found he was intoxicated but able to care for himself.

At 2:29 p.m. a caller reported hearing what sounded like a bear in the 4000 block of HPR. No bear was found.

At 3:11 p.m. a caller reported illegal woodcutting in the Harbor Mountain Road and HPR area.

A warrant was issued for the seizure of two cell phones.

At 8 p.m. a patron was reported being unruly at a downtown bar. Officers got him to leave and advised him not to enter any more bars.

At 8:55 p.m. a deer with a broken leg was reported on Valhalla Way. The area is populated and the deer couldn’t be shot there, and wildlife troopers were notified

At 10:35 p.m. a caller reported what hearing what sounded like gunshots. Police checked the area.

April 9

At 7:52 a.m. people were reported creating a disturbance in the 2100 block of HPR. No one wanted to press charges, and a woman was given a ride home.

At 5:53 p.m. a son asked for a welfare check on his dad, whom he had been trying to reach. The two were put in contact with one another and all was fine.

A caller reported the taillights had been stolen off a truck.

April 10

At 12:52 a.m. a trash can was  reported in the middle of the road in the 2000 block of Harbor Drive. Police removed it.

 

Sitka Police

Zachary Loewen, 33, was charged Sunday with violating conditions of release.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received one ambulance call Friday, another on Saturday, three on Sunday, and one early today.
