Card of Thanks
Dear Editor: Thank you to family, friends and members of the community Chris loved.
We all try to look at Chris’s passing as moving on to better place. We want to thank everyone for your ongoing support over the past year as he valiantly, and with good humor, fought the cancer that eventually won.
Those who braved the terrible sleet/rain and wind to come pay their respects and support us was a far greater group than we thought would be there! Thank you, tough Sitkan family and friends! It gave myself and his kids great comfort to see you all there with us. Thank you also to Pastor Chuck Haskins of the Nazarene Church for guiding the proceedings and words of prayer. Thank you to Michael Sullivan who played ‘‘Amazing Grace’’ for us as he did at our wedding, nearly 14 years ago. And certainly not least and very importantly U.S. Coast Guard Color Guard that was present and did the honors for his 25 years of service with them. That was of great meaning to Chris. He tributes his success in life to the lessons learned while serving his country with them.
We received many messages, cards and flowers of support from all corners of Alaska, including multiple members of the Alaska Association of Harbormasters and Port Administrators where he served and I was blessed to meet him. We are all thankful for our fun times, so now it’s time to “go fishin’,” as Chris would say. Thank you, all, and God bless!
