April 14, 2014 Letters to the Editor

Herring Hop
Dear Editor: A couple of oversights I neglected to mention in the Herring Hop thank you letter of last Friday: Cape Decision Lighthouse Society also sends out grateful thanks to Ashia Lane, Mary Beth Palof and Kari Perensovich of Old Harbor Books for selling tickets to the hop, and who will be selling tickets starting May 1 for the M/V Liseron benefit dinner cruise on May 16.
I think all of Sitka appreciates Old Harbor Books for your long-standing service to the community. Also, anyone who is missing a device that was left plugged in at the ANB Founders Hall on the evening of the Herring Hop, can speak with Ray Nielsen at the Hall to identify, or can call me, 747-7803, to facilitate getting the item back to you.
    Karen Lucas,
Cape Decision Lighthouse Society

Easter Bunny Benefit
Dear Editor: A huge thank you is in order from Sitka Community Hospital Foundation to Oceanside Therapy Services for hosting the Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, April 13, benefitting the foundation’s capital campaign.
Kay Turner, the Oceanside staff, and staff and family from Mountainside Family Healthcare and Sitka Community Hospital, volunteered their time, efforts and cooking talent to provide a memorable morning for a lot of Sitka families.
Jennifer Disney and the kitchen helpers made fantastic pancakes and bacon that tasted as good as it smelled.    Bridget Hitchcock, thank you for your patience and enthusiasm in leading the young ones in races and games.        I think a good time was had by all. And to the Easter Bunny, aka, well you know who you are, thanks for your willingness to sit with so many children for photos. Laura Reissman, the official photographer for the Easter Bunny, you have a wonderful gift for working with children. Thank you for many splendid pictures. To our enthusiastic ticket agents, Deanna Bennett and Georgia Rogers, you are delightful to work with. Thanks to all the other SCH family who helped set up, clean up and all the activities in-between. Your contributions are appreciated.
Thanks to the Sitka Sentinel for helping us promote this event. And a special thank you to all the families who came out to our breakfast.
Sitkans coming together for some good family fun while supporting a great cause is one of the reasons Sitka is such a special place to live.
The proceeds from this breakfast will go to the Foundation’s capital campaign to help build an additional building to meet the growing needs of Mountainside Family Healthcare. More information can be found at SitkaHospitalFoundation.org or by contacting the Foundation at 747-2707.
Thanks to all for supporting the future of healthcare in Sitka.
Ann Wilkinson,
