Police Blotter
Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
April 13
At 8:30 a.m. a caller reported a green substance spilled at the roundabout. It turned out to be hydro seeder that apparently leaked from a truck.
At 9:47 a.m. a dispute between neighbors over a property line in the downtown area was reported.
Residents on Burkhart Street complained about some trash that had built up on private property. Police were unable to locate the property owner.
A vehicle owner reported damage from a recent hit and run.
A caller complained a driver had gone at least 20 mph in a downtown area with a 5 mph limit.
At 6:35 p.m. a man and woman were reported getting into vehicles at Eliason Harbor, raising suspicions they were stealing gas. They were gone when officers arrived.
A woman called from out of town to ask for a check on the welfare of her children, who were staying with a relative while she was away.
At 11:04 p.m. a bear was reported near the ferry terminal, preventing three women on the beach from reaching the road. Police helped the women get back to the road, and notified Fish and Game and the wildlife troopers about the bear.
