Health Care Subsidies

Dear Editor: I wanted to send a big thank you to the Sentinel staff. On April 7 the Sentinel printed “ACA Subsidies Giving Sitkan Healthy Boost.” Though I try to keep up with the constantly changing information about COVID legislation, I had not realized that the American Rescue Plan modified the subsidies for the Health Insurance Marketplace, and that I should investigate how that would impact the insurance plan I currently have from the Marketplace. 

After visiting Susan Briles at SEARHC my monthly premiums were reduced by $138. After telling a co-worker about my great experience, she went to the SEARHC and her monthly premium was reduced by over $280. I encourage everyone who has health insurance through the Markeplace to take advantage of the terrific resources available at the SEARHC patient health benefits office. 

And I say thank you to Shannon Haugland and the Sentinel for supporting our community by sharing timely and important information that truly impacts on our community members. Thank you.
