Only in Sitka
Dear Editor: Only in Sitka would this happen.
It was Monday, my day to call bingo at the Pioneers Home. I grabbed my cane, and since it was raining, my old beat-up umbrella, and started walking down Lake Street. I cut across First Bank’s parking lot and got to Seward Street. Suddenly I heard a male voice commenting on the condition of my old umbrella. I turned and saw that nice young man who works at the First Bank. He said he thought I needed a new umbrella and promptly handed me a huge, beautiful, green-and-white umbrella with the First Bank log on it.
Needless to say, I was thrilled. After thanking him I continued on my way with a big smile on my face.
You will no doubt see me walking around town with my new First Bank umbrella, so give a toot or a hi.
