Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
April l5
At 6 a.m. a man reported receiving threatening text messages.
A hatch cover on a boat at Eliason Harbor was reported missing.
At 9 a.m. a caller reported losing a purse at a downtown restaurant.
A caller asked for a welfare check on a friend who might be suicidal. The friend was found to be receiving care.
A Scottish terrier was reported running at large at 1711 SMC. The animal control officers was notified.
Lost mail was turned out to have been put in the wrong mailbox.
At 1:26 p.m. police were notified that a Coast Guard copter had malfunctioned during a training exercise and a mannequin had been left on Biorka Island.
A girls bike was found at Totem Park.
At 4:53 p.m. a caller reported persons cutting wood in the 3900 block of HPR. They told officers they were cutting it for the Halibut Point rec area.
At 9:45 p.m. kids were reported on top of containers behind the Coliseum. They were gone when officers arrived.
At 10:53 p.m. a woman was reported to have hit a relative. A case was opened.
April 16
A fender bender was reported on Wachusetts Street.
At 12:40 p.m. a caller said a dog had been barking all morning on New Archangel Street. The ACO was told.
At 1:23 p.m. kids were reported in the lagoon at the waste water plant. They were gone when officers arrived.
A bike was found in the woods off Raptor Way and SMC.
A store in the 1200 block of SMC said a customer had taken food without paying. The store declined to press charges but didn’t want the customer to return.
Kids were reported shooting airsoft guns at the industrial park. They were advised they needed to get permission from the property owner.
At 11:30 p.m. a Granite Creek caller said a poodle had run away.
April 17
A person seen on Back Beach at 2:33 a.m. was found to be walking a dog.
A couple was reported having a verbal argument on Burkhart Street. They later agreed to separate for the night.
A mom called from out of town to report her children had been fighting.
At 6:40 p.m. and 7:11 p.m. fireworks were reported in the 2800 block of HPR.
April 18
At 12:54 a.m. an erratic driver was reported on SMC. Officers chased after the vehicle, which stopped on Price Street and the occupants ran off. Police said the driver and one occupant were found to be age 14. The juvenile probation officer was contacted.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received four ambulance calls Friday, nine on Saturday and three on Sunday.
At 10:36 a.m. Sunday burned food set off an alarm at 404 Lake Street.
Grand Jury
Alex Michael Ireland, 25, was indicted Thursday on a charge of misconduct involving weapons in the third degree. He is accused of possessing a firearm on Feb. 17 that could be concealed on his person after having been convicted of a felony, a class C felony. He’s scheduled to appear in court at 11:30 a.m. April 22.
William Scott Noel, 44, was indicted Thursday on two counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the second degree; one count of misconduct involving weapons in the second degree; one count of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the third degree; and one count of misconduct involving weapons in the third degree. He is accused of the class A felonies of manufacturing, delivering, or possessing with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance (heroin, oxycodone and/or fentanyl) on April 8; possessing a Springfield XD .45 ACP handgun, a class felony; and manufacturing, delivering or possessing methamphetamine, a class B felony.
He also is accused of having a Springfield Armory 1911 pistol capable of being concealed on his person on March 18, after being convicted of a felony, a class C felony; and on April 8 having a Springfield Armory XD .45 ACP pistol that could be concealed on his person after being convicted of a felony, a class C felony. He is scheduled to be in court 11:30 a.m. April 22.
