Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
April 18
At 12:54 a.m. an erratic driver was reported on SMC. Officers chased after the vehicle, which stopped on Price Street and the occupants ran off. Police said the driver and an occupant were found to be age 14. The juvenile probation officer was contacted.
Alaska Airlines reported a bag had been left unclaimed the night before and hadn’t yet been picked up. The owner was to be notified.
A man reported getting weird text messages from his mom. Officers did a welfare check and found she was fine.
A man who lives near the Cross Trail reported being harassed. Officers found nothing criminal.
A gas station reported a customer had driven off without paying. Police contacted the driver, who agreed to return and pay.
A woman said she was receiving harassing text messages from someone she didn’t know. She was advised to block the calls.
At 4:07 p.m. a Jack Russell dog was reported running at large in the Marine Street and Tlingit Way area. The animal control officer was advised.
A woman asked about the status of a protective order.
A downtown restaurant said no one had yet picked up a passport left early Saturday morning. Police contacted the owner.
At 11:35 p.m. a caller reported hearing a woman crying loudly in the 200 block of Lincoln Street. Officers found she was able to care for herself.
