Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received six ambulance calls Monday.

Coast Guard

A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka helicopter crew checked the areas around North Pass and Shelter Island Sunday morning after five lifejackets were pulled out of the water by a passing mariner.

No reports of missing boats or boaters came in, so after searching more than three hours the crew returned to Sitka, the Coast Guard said.

Shelter Island and North Pass are 22 miles northwest of Juneau.
