Police Blotter
The following calls were recorded as of 8 a.m. today.
April 24
At 2:29 a.m. a man walking in the 3200 block of HPR said he’d run into a bear. Police gave him a courtesy shuttle to his home.
At 7:58 a.m. a deer was reported struck by a vehicle in the 1500 block of SMC. The deer ran off and couldn’t be found. The car received minimal damage, police said.
At 10:34 a.m. a caller requested a welfare check on a man on Oja Street. Police located the man, who was fine, and was to contact the caller.
A caller reported a possible assault on a child at Goddard Hot Springs. She was advised of her options.
A caller from out of town said he’d been informed by a bank of fraud. He was to pursue the matter with his local police.
A vehicle was reported to have been parked for some time on Hirst Street. Police found the driver had permission to park there.
At 8:57 p.m. a car was reported parked close to the road in the 1600 block of SMC, posing a possible traffic hazard. Police looked for the owner to have it moved.
At 11:04 p.m. two bears were reported getting into communal trash containers in the 2000 block of Cascade Creek Road. Police cited one of the residents.
April 25
At 12:32 a.m. a woman was reported screaming in the 1500 block of HPR. Police were unable to locate her.
Sitka Police
Steven A. Morales, 34, was charged Monday with violating conditions of release.

Sitka Fire Department received one ambulance call Monday.
