Sitka police logged the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
April 29
A caller said the prop off his motor was stolen at Thomsen Harbor.
A caller said a 10” spotlight valued at $450 was stolen off his boat at Sealing Cove.
A school reported a possibly suicidal student. The school later said he had returned and was fine.
At 9:17 p.m. a caller at Crescent parking lot said a man in a vehicle was harassing her. Officers found that the man had been looking for his wife and thought the caller knew where she was. He was gone when officers arrived.
At 10 p.m. a caller said someone was pounding on the neighbor’s door. Officers responded and gave a woman a disorderly conduct warning.
Sitka Police
Dennis Houston, 34, was charged with two counts of assault in the fourth degree, domestic violence, and one count of interfering with a report of domestic violence.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department responded to an ambulance call at 4:33 p.m. Monday.
At 5:33 p.m. Monday an engine was sent to 412 Hollywood Way where burned food had caused alarm.
Grand Jury
A Sitka grand jury returned two indictments April 24.
Walter Lee Boyd, 35, was charged with theft in the second degree and misconduct involving weapons in the third degree, stemming from an incident on Jan. 12, in which he was accused of stealing a firearm and concealing it on his person after having been convicted of a felony. Both charges are class C felonies. He is to appear in court May 6.
Gus W. Nelson, 28, was indicted on charges of theft in the second degree and forgery in the second degree. He’s accused of theft of property or services of a value $750 or more but less than $25,000 on Nov. 8, 2018, and forging a legal document, both counts being class C felony offenses. He is to be in court May 7.
