Police Blotter

The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
April 4
At 8:55 a.m. a downtown store said a man had been caught on video popping open their back door, walking in, then walking back out.
At 10:22 a.m. a caller in the 300 block of 329 Katlian said a woman was unconscious. She was taken to a hospital.
An ambulance was requested for an 86-year-old man.
At 6:48 p.m. a caller on Harbor Mountain Road said she’d found a small package in a plastic bag hanging from her door knob when she returned from work. She said there were no identifying marks, and she had checked with everyone she could think of but no one knew anything about it. An officer responded and opened the package, which was determined to be a surprise gift from a neighbor.
At 8:53 p.m. a caller asked for a welfare check on her daughter, who was attempting to get away from an abusive relationship. The caller hadn’t had contact with her in several hours and was concerned because the last she’d heard the two were arguing. The caller said she was unsure where the vehicle she believed they were living in was located. Officers were unable to locate the two.
At 9:31 p.m. a caller said individuals she believed had been involved in a previous incident at her home were hanging out in the area, and asked officers to do a drive-by. An officer didn’t find anyone loitering in the area.
At 10:34 p.m. a caller said a man had smoke in his house and might have left a hotplate on. The caller said the man was now walking down the road, and hung up without answering further questions. Police attempts to call back went straight to voicemail. An officer found that although smoky there were no signs of any issues in the home and the man had left.

Six vehicles parked at the airport were cited for violations.
At 1:18 a.m. a caller said a woman was refusing to leave a downtown bar. However, while the caller was talking to dispatch the woman walked out and no assistance was needed.
At 5:30 a.m. a 911 caller asked for an ambulance for a woman who had fallen. EMS responded but transport was refused.
