Scholarship Auction

Dear Editor:  I am so excited to let the community know that The Ocean Wave Quilters’ 25th annual small quilt and related-items auction to raise funds for scholarships was again a big success.

The guild brought in $3,085 before expenses thanks to the 37 people who signed in.

Nineteen mini quilts went home with happy winners along with 44 more items that ranged from fabric to vintage linens and a quilt to books, kits, tools and a sewing machine.

We extend a huge thank you to all the great helpers from Harrigan Centennial Hall staff, and guild who worked behind the scenes and during the auction, several who took on more than one job.

Also thanks to KIFW, the Daily Sitka Sentinel, KCAW and Sitka Soup for publicity and to businesses that hung our posters.

Of course, it also would not have been such a great success without the many who donated the little works-of-art quilts and other auctioned items and all the supporters who showed up and bid so generously.

We could not have done it without each and every one of you.

Julia Smith and Karen Boyer,

Ocean Wave Quilters,

Scholarship Auction Coordinators
