Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
July 29
At 1:48 a.m. a caller said he’d dropped off an elderly woman at her home and she had complained she had no electric power. Police found all the street lights and porch lights in the area were on.
At 2:26 a.m. a woman on Georgeson Loop asked police to check her property as she could hear someone walking about and the lights on her car were flashing. Officers found no one in the area, and determined the flashing light was part of a security feature in the car.
A caller asked for a welfare check on a friend. Officers found the friend was OK.
At 9:47 p.m. kids were reported on the roof of Blatchley. Officers found a crew was cleaning the roof.
At 10:26 a.m. a pedestrian was reported hit by a vehicle in the 400 block of Lincoln Street. She was taken to the hospital with an apparent leg injury. No other information was on the report.
At 2:53 p.m. a caller said two males were throwing firecrackers at passing vehicles in the 700 block of Katlian. The two left before officers arrived.
July 30
At 12:13 a.m. police made contact with persons in the 400 block of Lincoln Street and spoke to them about having open containers.
At 6 a.m. a caller said a friend had not shown up for work.
A debit card found in the 1400 block of SMC was turned in to police.
At 1:39 p.m. a caller said dogs had been out on Spruce Street and barking was an issue. Officers saw a dog on a porch but it wasn’t barking.
A caller said a taxi was refusing to come to his home. The traffic officer responded.
At 3:50 p.m. a vehicle was reported to have backed up and hit a construction vehicle. Officers listed options.
A bartender at a wedding reported a dispute over a tip jar. The bartender wanted theft charges filed, and police opened a case.
At 10 p.m. a juvenile biker in the 1200 block of SMC was given a warning that he needed to wear a helmet and have reflectors, and told to go home.
July 31
At 12:24 a.m. a disturbance that included fireworks was reported in the 3100 block of HPR. Officers found no sign of fireworks.
At 1:19 a.m. an officer requested a backup officer in a parking lot in the 100 block of Harbor Drive, where he said tensions were high among a group there. Officers patrolled the area until the group dispersed.
At 2:46 a.m. an officer made contact with an intoxicated male at Jeff Davis and Lincoln streets.
At 4:09 a.m. a caller reported getting a call from someone claiming to be from the police department telling him he had to be in court at 11 a.m. Monday. Another caller also reported getting a call from a male claiming to be with the police department. The calls were documented.
A bank alarm went off at 11:56 a.m. but it was a maintenance issue.
At 7:23 p.m. a yellow dog with no tax but wearing a bandanna was reported running at large in the 1400 block of HPR.
Keys on a leather clip found at ANB Harbor were turned in to police.
A black and white husky was reported lost near Sitka High School.
Police assisted the Office of Children’s Services on a case.
At 10:52 p.m. two males at the skate park were told it was past curfew.
At 10:57 p.m. an erratic driver was reported in the 100 block of Harbor Drive.
August 1
At 1:22 a.m. a woman was reported screaming on Georgeson Loop. She was given a disorderly conduct warning.
Sitka Police
Amanda Oktoyak, 36, was charged Friday with driving under the influence.
Gilbert Sam Jr., 34, was charged Saturday with violating conditions of probation. Bail was set at $15,000.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received seven ambulance calls Friday, three on Saturday and three on Sunday.
