Sitka Police Department received the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
August 9
At 12:33 a.m. a bear was reported on Wolff Drive, and at 3:33 a.m. one was reported on Lifesaver Drive.
At 6:03 a.m. a caller reported missing dogs in the 700 block of SMC. They returned about a half-hour later.
At 8:47 a.m. officers did a welfare check as part of a drug investigation.
At 9:35 a.m. a man was reported causing a disturbance at the state office building. Officers gave the man, who apparently was intoxicated, a verbal warning against disorderly conduct.
At 9:46 a.m. dogs were reported barking on Dodge Circle and Cascade Creek Road. The matter was referred to the animal control officers.
At 1:28 p.m. a traffic hazard was reported while efforts were made to get a small forklift out of a ditch at Raptor Way and SMC.
At 4:47 p.m. a caller complained about bears getting into dumpsters on Furuhelm and spreading trash.
At 9:51 p.m. a complaint was made about the noise of a party in apartments in the 800 block of HPR.
At 10:33 p.m. a bear was reported at the Coast Guard air station.
At 10:59 p.m. a juvenile at Baranof school was told he was violating curfew, which is at 10 p.m.
At 11:13 p.m. two juveniles at Lincoln Street and Cathedral Way were told they were violating curfew. Their parents were contacted.
At 11:44 p.m. a caller complained of noise, possibly from a party, on Kaasda Heen Circle.
August 10
At 1:45 a.m. a bear was reported on Metlakatla Street.
A civil dispute arose at 1:54 a.m. on Burkhart Street over missing chairs in the smoke shack.
At 6:53 a.m. a dispute between a couple was reported.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received six ambulance calls, and at 9:04 p.m. responded to what turned out to be a false alarm at a downtown bank.
