Police Blotter
Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
August 12
A caller said his bike was stolen from ANB Harbor.
An Edgecumbe Drive caller said a thief stole tools from her basement.
A caller reported finding a credit card and ID next to his storage unit.
A domestic violence order was given to police to serve.
Officers talked to the counselor of a woman who said someone was hiding in the bushes and taunting her. The counselor said the woman was fine.
At 2:15 p.m. police received notice that a contractor is fixing a water leak near the Indian River Bridge and may be periodically stopping traffic.
Police destroyed a bag of meth found at Eliason Harbor.
At 4:12 p.m. a caller said his van had gone missing from the airport, and that he’d left the keys in the console. The owner of an identical van called soon after, reporting that some visitors inadvertently took the wrong van. The caller’s van was returned to the airport.
At 4:18 p.m. a caller reported being tailgated by a reckless driver who tried to go through Gate 0 on Harbor Mountain Road at the same time as the caller. Police were on a higher priority call.
A woman asked for help taking her adult son to the hospital. Police asked for the proper paperwork before taking action.
At 5:30 p.m. police checked on a reportedly intoxicated man who was vomiting on Baranof Street. He told officers he was fine, just resting.
At 5:41 p.m. a resident said he talked to a man on Blue Lake Road who was “slumped” on the side of the road. The man said he hadn’t been drinking and used to work for a fish processor. The resident told the nearby campground host, noting that the man seemed “out of it,” and asked police to document the interaction.
At 5:53 p.m. a caller said a man was passed out under a tree near the Russian Bishop’s House. The man told police he would take a nap elsewhere.
At 6:32 p.m. a caller reported drug activities at Pioneer Park. He noted a vehicle, bikes and a truck were there.
An ambulance picked up a man too intoxicated to care for himself.
At 9:30 p.m. a man was reportedly intoxicated and yelling obscenities behind the library. Police asked him to leave.
August 13
At 1:14 a.m. a man was reported passed out on Katlian Street. While officers were talking to him he passed out again, and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 7:06 p.m., 7:38 p.m. and 8:23 p.m. Monday, and 1:33 a.m. today.
