SSF Cake Auction
Dear Editor: Wow, what a fun weekend! Sitka Seafood Festival was another success due to the help and attendance of a whole lot of people.
As coordinator for the cake, cupcake and pie auction/contest held during the banquet I have a lot of good folks to thank.
First off, many thanks to all those who contributed a fabulous dessert: Mary Alice Hamberg; Bobbi Jordan (two); Cathy Shaffer and Trephina Galloway (two); Bridget Kauffman; Lisa Killinger; M. Celeste Tydingco; Anna Strickland; Fly In Fish Inn (three); and Serena Wild. We certainly couldn’t have had a dessert auction without them.
A great big thank you to all the diners who bid so generously for the desserts and raised a whopping $2,634.41, all of which will be used to help pay expenses for this year’s festival.
Mary Alice, Bobbi and the Shaffer/Galloway team made the top three fundraising desserts and received their choice of three prizes. Sitka True Value generously donated a bag filled with baking goodies for one of those prizes. Linda Olson and I and the Naa Kahidi Dancers contributed to another prize and a third prize was comprised of goodies donated by The Salmon Project, the Naa Kahidi Dancers and Sitka Seafood Festival.
Thanks to Keith Perkins for being my lively, good-natured auctioneer.
Mark your calendars now for next year’s festival to be held Aug. 5, 6 and 7. See you there.
