Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
August 16
At 10:31 a.m. harbors asked police to help find the owner of a boat taking on water. Officers located the owner and advised him of the situation.
A driver was reported going the wrong way on Kaagwaantaan. Officers gave a warning.
At 10:59 a.m. a bear was reported back in the 2800 block of SMC. Police advised Fish and Game and wildlife troopers.
A bicycle found in a parking lot was turned in.
A caller reported her credit card was being used by someone else. She was advised of her options.
At 2:32 p.m. a caller reported hearing a woman scream for help, in the 200 block of Lincoln Street. Officers checked the area but found no one in distress.
A caller reported his iPad was stolen and his findmyiphone app had located it. Officers located the iPad and returned it to the man, who declined to press charges.
At 4:10 p.m. a man who lives near the woods in the 4200 block of HPR reported hearing dogs barking and people talking. Officers found nothing awry in the area.
Officers provided traffic control while a bus broken down near Centennial Hall was moved.
A caller reported receiving a suspicious package. An officer picked it up and took it to the police station to be checked.
At 8:41 p.m. a caller said a truck headed outbound on HPR was swerving. Officers patrolled the area but did not find the truck.
At 11 p.m. officers responded to a report of a landlord-tenant issue.
August 17
At 6:40 a.m. a sow and two cubs were reported getting into trash cans on Darrin Drive. Officers responded, and gave a resident a warning about having a bear attractant.
