Climate Change

Dear Editor: ‘‘This letter is to ask you to give your inestimable help to the group in the Legislature in Washington, D.C., working to address the problems associated with (resulting from) climate change. I feel it is imperative that our best minds understand the situation.’’

The above is excerpted from a short letter I sent recently to Congressman Don Young and Sen. Dan Sullivan. I’m hoping others will do something similar. I got help from Marie at our Legislative Affairs Office.

Pauline Fredrickson, Sitka

And Sitka?

Dear Editor: Confederate statues are being removed throughout the South, and it is long past time!

What about the statue of the Russian-America Company’s Baranof, in front of the Centennial Building? We believe this is the moment for it, too, to be removed.

With the South now removing its symbols of oppression, Sitka should not let this moment pass without doing the same.

We urge the Assembly to open discussion on this, and to ultimately

take that action.

Larry Edwards, Martina Kurzer,
