Climate Action
Dear Editor: In times of crisis, each one of us has two choices: Give in to hopelessness by doing nothing or take action to make things better. Right now, people need to make that choice … and it is surprisingly easier to have a positive impact on our worsening climate than you might think!
Right now, Congress is considering adding climate action to the upcoming budget reconciliation package. We can all help push this through and bring hope and action on climate change.
By spending less than 10 minutes emailing and calling our representatives in Congress now, we can protect the things, places, and people we love from the effects of a worsening climate. Please email and call Congressman Don Young right away by going to http://cclusa.org/house. Ask him to include a price on carbon in the budget reconciliation package. It’s a proven starting point that will get us on track to reach net zero by 2050, will provide affordable renewable energy, will save lives, and – with a dividend – put money into your pocket. The website above will help you send your email, help you find the right number to call, and help you with a powerful, simple message.
Want to make an even more powerful impact? Ask friends and family OUTSIDE Alaska to write to their representatives!
I’ve made my call and sent my email. Join me in having hope on climate change by taking action today.

Bare Reports
Dear Editor: Having survived 33 years of life in Sitka, topped by 44 years of wedded bliss, AND our warped sense of humor – we laughed so much over the Police Blotter’’ report of a woman mooning folks on HPR in the early morning.
In this current stretch of ‘‘doom and gloom’’ we thought wouldn’t it be hilarious to see more ‘‘bare’’ Police Blotter reports then ‘‘bear’’ reports?! How on earth would the dispatcher and police officers keep a straight face?? Hope this brings a smile to some faces around our little town.
Love livin’ in Sitka.
