Police Blotter
Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
August 26
Baranof Elementary asked for help with school drop-off Tuesday and Wednesday.
Police helped retrieve property from a cruise ship passenger.
Officers tagged vehicles as abandoned in Sealing Cove Harbor, Granite Creek Road, Starrigavan, Eliason Harbor and Nelson Logging Road.
The fire department reported bear spray and a radio missing.
At 12:26 p.m. a 911 caller said men were drinking in the 700 block of HPR, but they left soon after.
Police investigated a report of one person pushing another against a wall, and made an arrest.
Police checked on a woman at her son’s request and found she was fine.
At 3:57 p.m. a 911 caller reporting a fight on a boat in Crescent Harbor. One man was escorted off the boat.
A woman said her husband was harassing her, following her around and making comments about disputed property, and she planned on filing a domestic violence order. The man left before officers arrived.
The electric department was informed about a buzzing transformer in the 600 block of SMC at 5:24 p.m.
A woman said someone was making purchases on her credit card, which she had lost. Police talked to her.
A man said his girlfriend was being abused by her parents and he wanted to wait outside their house until an officer arrived. Police talked to all parties and advised the man to leave the parents’ house and not return for the evening or he would be trespassed.
At 9:14 p.m. a woman said two people were outside her door, refusing to leave despite requests to do so. Police told them to leave.
At 10:47 p.m. intoxicated men outside a bar were reported being noisy. They left before police arrived.
An ambulance was sent to Eliason Harbor for a man with severe abdominal pains and other symptoms.
August 27
At 1:14 a.m. a caller said her neighbors were noisy and keeping her husband awake by walking loudly in the apartment. She was advised to contact her landlord about the problem.
At 1:50 a.m. a bartender reported bar patrons being rowdy and noisy outside the bar. Police told them to go home for the night.
Sitka Police
Darian Young, 22, was arrested Monday on a charge of assault in the fourth degree and later charged additionally with criminal mischief in the fifth degree, domestic violence.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 10:51 a.m., 4:23 p.m., 8:16 p.m. and 11:10 p.m. Monday.
Coast Guard
A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka helicopter Monday evening briefly searched for the source of an EPIRB signal southeast of Vitskari Rocks, then was dispatched to Hyder to take a 65-year-old man with possible chloride poisoning from Hyder to Ketchikan for treatment, the Coast Guard said.
