Administrator Selection
Dear Editor: The following letter was sent to Mayor Mim McConnell and members of the City Assembly.
I am very disappointed that I was not selected to serve as your next Municipal Administrator. However, I wish to offer you my heartfelt thanks for your consideration.
I came away very impressed with Sitka. For a community of less than 9,000 residents you have much to be proud of. Beneath the inherent beauty of Sitka lies a community spirit I have rarely seen.
I congratulate Mark Gorman on his selection and wish him great success. I am confident he will do an excellent job for the Assembly, the residents and businesses of Sitka.
To the city staff, what a wonderful and caring group, ably led by Jay Sweeney, who was the consummate Ambassador for your lovely city; thanks for your warm welcome and sincere hospitality.
Finally, to the local media, KCAW and the Sitka Sentinel, I wish to thank you for the excellent comprehensive and impartial coverage you provided throughout the selection process. Sitkans are very fortunate to have access to the services you provide.
