Dear Editor: The 16th annual Sitka Fire Department Volunteers Aid-to-Member fundraiser was once again a GREAT success thanks to the continued support of the community and the donations from our generous businesses.
Thank you to CHARR for their generous cash donation. Thank you to the merchants who generously donated to our silent auction: Sitka Rose Gallery, Alaska Computer Center and Office Supplies, Alaska Raptor Center, Russell’s, Sitka Vision Clinic, Random House, Old Harbor Books, Stereo North, Agave, Arrowhead Transfer, Ludvig’s Bistro, Raven Radio, Lolly Dahl, Jay Sweeney, Bill Greer, Smokey Beare, Knitting with Class, Pizza Express, Alaska Pure Sea Salt and Foreign Auto.
Thank you to the Sentinel for running our PSAs. KIFW and Raven Radio for announcing our PSAs. Thank you to Roger Hames and Sea Mart, Scott and Bob Calhoun and Sitka Bottling, Devin Stanley and AC Lakeside, Tiffany Janssen and First National Bank Alaska, Dave Simpson and Market Center for the contributions of food, refreshments and storage space. Chris Spivey and First Bank for the use of their parking lot.

Dave Miller and Teka Lamade for organizing the dunk tank: Mark Gorman, Teka Lamade, Lance Ewers, Walt Smith, Jake Denherder, Michael Scarcelli and Jamie Dunn. We appreciate your contribution of time. Thanks to Kim Nekekeroff and Jamie Dunn for manning the dunk tank. Shannon Wales for cashiering, Dani Snyder and Steve Eizenbeizs for manning the fire house, Nick McGraw for manning the castle, John McCrehin, Buzz Brown, Karen Royce and Susan Royce for serving food and cashiering and Marcia McCrehin for assisting Grace with her fry bread.
Thanks to the community and department members who rented tables to sell their ‘‘stuff.’’ Don Kluting and the Centennial Hall staff for use of the tables for the rummage treasures, crafts and jewelry.
Grace Larsen, thank you for sharing your wonderful fry bread with us once again. Your support of the fire department and our Super Saturday fundraiser over the years is greatly appreciated.
A BIG thank you goes to the volunteers and staff who showed up on the event day to help set up, take down and help wherever there was a need.
