Sitka Police Department received the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

August 29

At 1:30 a.m. a loud party was reported on Wachusetts Street, but police  heard no loud noise in the area.

At 2:10 a.m. an officer saw what appeared to be a disturbance in the 100 block of Lincoln Street. Nothing criminal was found.

At 3:55 a.m. a disturbance involving a man and a woman was reported at Eliason Harbor. Police issued a disorderly conduct warning.

A bicycle theft was reported at ANB Harbor.

A driver complained a taxi had cut her off near Centennial Hall.

An officer cited a vehicle parked in a handicap space at Eliason Harbor.

At 3:43 p.m. two males and one female were reported shooting at a milk jug with a .22 rifle on Harbor Mountain Road.

A caller said a  truck had passed multiple vehicles to get to the front of a line where a flagger stood near Lake Street and HPR.

A wallet with no cash in it was found in the 300 block of Seward Street. The owner was contacted.

At 5:45 p.m. a two-car collision was reported near Hemlock Street and the 500 block of HPR. One person was taken to the hospital. Police are investigating.

August 30

At 12:13 a.m. a man was reported  lying on the ground near O’Connell Bridge. Officers responded and the man was taken to the hospital.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received five ambulance calls Monday.

At 5:49 p.m. Monday an engine and an ambulance went to 500 HPR where two vehicles had collided. One person was taken to the hospital.

 

Coast Guard

A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka helicopter crew on Monday medevacked a 7-year-old Angoon boy suffering from dehydration and low oxygen. 

The Air Station received the call at 6:35 p.m., and the helicopter took off at 7:41 p.m. The boy was flown to Juneau, arriving at 8:54 p.m. for further medical care.

The helicopter was back in Sitka at 9:58 p.m., the Coast Guard said.
