Sitka Police Department received the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

 August 30

At 12:56 a.m. a dead deer was found in the 800 block of SMC. The carcass was taken to the Raptor Center.

Incidents of drunkenness were reported at 1:14 a.m. in the 100 block of Harbor Drive and at 4:56 a.m. at Eliason Harbor.

At 8:46 a.m. a caller complained a dog is left in a parked vehicle on Moller Street, and it keeps barking. The animal control officer was notified.

At 10:25 a.m. a student was reported absent from school and couldn’t be contacted. The father located the student later in the afternoon.

At 2:05 p.m. police assisted the adult probation office in locating a person on probation.

At 2:35 p.m. a caller reported a man picking up something in the road in the 400 block of Katlian. Officers talked to the man, who said he’d dropped a bottle of vitamins and was picking up the pills.

At 3:19 p.m. a dispute over a vehicle was reported in the 900 block of HPR. An officer helped resolve the matter.

A caller complained he was being slandered on social media. Police found no criminal activity.

At 9:54 p.m. a bear was reported getting into trash on Vitskari Street. Police found neither the bear nor the trash.

At 2:07 a.m. an incident of drunkenness was reported at a downtown bar.

At 4:59 a.m. a bear was reported in the 400 block of Lake Street.

Sitka Fire Department received four ambulance calls Monday.
