Klas Stolpe
Dear Editor: It was with great disappointment that I learned that Sentinel readers like myself would no longer get the treat of reading Klas Stolpe’s columns on a daily basis. Whenever I picked up a Sentinel I always looked forward to his uniquely descriptive work and could always identify his pieces within the first paragraph or two. From sports to local politics to fisheries, Klas gave Sitkans a richly descriptive account of whatever he was covering. His ‘‘Pure Sole’’ column was an especially personal feature to find in a local paper – a wonderful reminder of how youthful problems seem unique and of great importance at the time, but are actually widely-experienced learning opportunities.
Thank you, Klas, and good luck in Juneau. I hope they appreciate your work as much as I have.
