Ballot Measure 1

Dear Editor: Tuesday, August 18th is primary day in Alaska. As voters we all get to vote for one candidate in each of the elections on the ballot. There is also one ballot initiative, Ballot Measure No. 1. Vote YES on 1. This ballot measure restores reasonable limits on how much money an individual or group can give to state and local political campaigns. Now hundreds of thousands of dollars can be given to a candidate, creating an unfair advantage for the ultra-wealthy agenda.  Ballot Measure 1 would restrict individual donation to $2,000 and groups besides political parties to $4,000 per-election cycle.  Let’s get back to basics. Vote Yes on 1.
