Sitka High School basketball players returned to the court over the weekend in a series of games against Petersburg, Glenallen and Bristol Bay. Both the girls and boys both faced off against the smaller schools’ squads on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Sitka High.

SHS girls kicked off their season Thursday with a 62-21 win over Bristol Bay – a 1A school. Sitka boys were scheduled to play Bristol Bay that evening as well, but the game was canceled.

The Wolves’ junior varsity boys team felled Petersburg 41-37 Friday, and Sitka boys varsity beat Glenallen 43-23 as well. Sitka girls notched a 55-19 win over Glenallen, also on Friday.

Closing out the tournament Saturday, Sitka’s JV boys lost to Glenallen 37-33, but the Wolves’ varsity beat Petersburg 53-43. The Lady Wolves continued their win streak by toppling the Lady Vikings 57-38 as well.

Local basketball players will be back in action after the holidays.
