Blessing of Fleet Slated for May 4

The public is invited to the annual Blessing of the Fleet and Mariners Memorial 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at the Crescent Harbor Shelter. 

The ceremony includes the U.S. Coast Guard Color Guard, local musicians, scripture readings and blessings by local clergy, bell-ringing, and the reading of mariners’ names who have passed since last year’s ceremony.

A wreath and flowers will be taken out to sea by the Sitka Harbor Department to honor the departed.
