MONACO (AP) — Brazilian coach Filipe Luís was hired by Monaco on Monday, four months after leaving Flamengo.

Filipe Luís, who has signed a contract until June 2028, led Flamengo to the Brazilian title and the Copa Libertadores in 2025 and was in charge of the team at the Club World Cup last year.

The former Brazil, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea left back left Flamengo in March.

Monaco, the team of United States' World Cup striker Folarin Balogun and highly rated France attacking midfielder Maghnes Akliouche, finished in seventh place in the French league last season and will play in the Conference League playoffs next month.
