
Brenda Diamond Hunt
Brenda Diamond Hunt, loving wife of Gary Hunt for 42 years and mother of their three children, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 3, 2020, after a courageous 26-year battle with cancer. She was 64 years old.
Brenda was born June 27, 1956, in Ketchikan, the oldest child of Harold and Ethel (Andis) Diamond. The family moved to Sitka in 1959 where she grew up and attended Sitka schools along with her sister Debra and brother Clinton. She married Gary Hunt on Sept. 2, 1978. Together they raised three children, Tonya Hunt Jacob, Tasha Hunt Hargett and Levi Hunt.
Summertime in Southeast Alaska was spent boating, fishing and camping. She moved with the family to Soldotna in 1993, living there for a brief time. She loved the wintertime in Soldotna doing her favorite sports of snowmobiling and four-wheeling. Then in 1996 the family moved to Washington state, settling in the Castle Rock area until her passing.
She was an avid NASCAR lover and would never miss a race. She loved speed of any kind. She kept busy raising her family and taking them on many adventures and creating great memories with them. She was known for her quick wit and joking spirit and had a beautiful smile and giggle when she tricked you. She was loving and compassionate to her family and many friends.
She was a proud grandmother to Tonya’s children Calista O’dell Atkins (Shae) and Chadam O’dell. And Tasha’s (Robert) children Catlin Hargett (in memory), Kaylee Hargett. And was step-grandma to several boys of her sons-in-law. She was a great-grandmother to Everlee Diamond Atkins, Oaklee Shae Atkins, Weston Jacob and Addi Hargett.
She was preceded in death by her father Harold C. Diamond and granddaughter Catlin Marie Hargett.
She is survived by her mother Ethel Andis Diamond of Petersburg; husband Gary Hunt of Castle Rock, and their children Tonya Hunt O’dell Jacob (James) of Oregon, Tasha Hunt Hargett (Robert) of Washington, and Levi Hunt of Washington; her sister Debra Sollars (Barton) of Alaska and their children Amy Sollars Ward (Phillip), Tabitha Sollars Nelson (Victor) and Austin Sollars (Tara); her brother Clinton Diamond (Cathy) of Alaska and his children Mandy, Hailey, Lacey, Jimmy and Cathy’s son Travis; her stepmother Pat Diamond of Sitka; stepsister Tonya Rutherford; stepbrother Kelly Rutherford (Gabrielle) and their children Rick and Ashley; and the many children of her nieces and nephews.
At this time there will be no services because of COVID-19. Later when possible there will be a celebration of life for our Courageous Warrior.
